invisalign pricing
[info]_je_taime wrote in [info]dental_nursing
Hi there. I know this is somewhat subjective depending on the practitioner, but I recently had a consultation for Invisalign where I was told I would need about 12 months of treatment and the cost is $5,000. This includes retainers and whitening at the end. They said they will also need to file my bottom teeth a little which I don't understand since I've already had braces and they didn't have to do that.
From what I've read, braces typically cost about 2 to 5 thousand dollars and Invisalign is slightly more expensive. I'm wondering why this treatment is on the upper end of the spectrum I've heard since my understanding is that 12 months is relatively short, or at least not a long time for braces. Do you think this is more expensive than what should be expected?
Thanks so much!

Notification System

**FINAL EDIT Thu Dec 10 02:15:47 UTC 2009**

So there is the final update... Over the past day we have processed around 11 million jobs out of the 12 million that were in queue at that time. Please bear in mind that over this past day, more jobs for notifications are also created. So while the queue has been dropping, we are still not fully caught up at this point, due to backlog and new jobs. We have roughly 3 million jobs still pending that involve the notification system in some manner. We had hoped we could have fully cleared the queue in a day, but unfortunately we can't clear it too quickly, since we need the rest of the site to operate normally. From our current perspective on the amount of jobs that are left in queue, and how many it has processed thus far, we believe it will take around another 8 - 12 hours to process everything.

And finally some answers to some questions:

Amalgam fillings question
[info]cinnamonlee wrote in [info]dental_nursing
Hello everyone!

I have been researching "mercury" fillings for a while, read up on both sides and many opinions on them. I have come to a decision that even IF they are harmless ( there is no proof) I am not comfortable having them.
I am 18 and I've had a very deep amalgam filling for about 6 years, and a partial one on the tooth beside it. we figured it would be best to pull the molar instead of getting into possibly a root canal. my incoming wisdom tooth should take its place.

I know there are risks to removing amalgam fillings but my question is: are there any risks to extracting a tooth that is mostly mercury filling?
do I need to do the whole mercury supplement detox ect ect.

Thanks!!
